Nestlé's Guatemalan Acquisition Endorses BMI's Favourable View of Central America

The world's largest food firm Nestlé has announced it is to become the majority shareholder in the Guatemala-based Mahler Group. The Central American firm operates two factories and four distribution centres and produces a range of packaged products including soup and powdered drinks. In addition to Guatemala the firm has exposure to other Central American markets and this deal is a strong endorsement of the region, which BMI has previously highlighted as offering significant opportunities for food and drink producers thanks to its immature nature and the rapid rate of economic growth.
