Craft Beer Fastest Growing Part Of Industry In Developed Markets, Opportunity For Multinationals

In developed markets the global economic downturn has had a detrimental impact on beer consumption, with most of the leading multinational brewers reporting volume declines. However, the craft beer segment has managed to shrug off the downturn thanks to a growing interest in beer with greater flavour and heritage. This has been reflected in the results posted by major brewers - with the craft division of MillerCoors outperforming the wider business - and in the results of smaller, speciality brewers, with firms such as Belgium-based Duvel, US-based Boston Beer and Canada-based Big Rock all posting very strong results.
