Asahi's Sale Not At Odds With Emerging Market Preference
August 2010 | Company News AlertJapanese brewer Asahi's announcement that it is looking to offload its loss-making South Korean soft drink unit Haitai Beverage could be seen as in conflict with its stated strategy of expanding its international operations to reduce its reliance on the mature Japanese market. However, we think Asahi's proposed sale should not be viewed as in conflict to its emerging market (EM) strategy. Rather, we believe Asahi's proposed sale will allow it to better position itself to capitalise on its faster growing international units.
