Bimbo Opens Factory In Brazil, BMI Sees Region As Future Investment Focus

Mexican bread maker Bimbo has opened a new factory in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The facility is to produce the Pullman and Plusvista bakery brands and takes the total number of plants the firm operates in the country to seven. In July 2010, Bimbo said it would look to pay back up to US$700mn in debt by the end of the year to put itself in a position to make acquisitions and BMI believes that Bimbo will step up its investment in Brazil as it looks refocus on the emerging markets of Latin America following a major acquisition
