Biscuit Buy Could Accelerate Campbell's Emerging Market Growth

It has been reported in UK-based newspaper The Sunday Times that US-food producer Campbell Soup is considering making a bid for the biscuit operations of UK-based United Biscuits. The acquisition, which could cost around GBP1.5bn, would significantly expand the firm's revenues and diversify the business away from the US, where it is currently focused. United Biscuits is the UK's largest biscuit producer and in 2009 had revenues of GBP1.3bn and profits of GBP223m.
