Diageo Unit Building Up Strong Momentum

Diageo's East African Breweries Ltd (EABL) unit has posted a 10% year-on-year (y-o-y) rise in pre-tax earnings to KES12.5bn (US$154.42mn) for the year to June 2010, with volumes also performing well. After a fairly challenging H1 (financial) period, strong momentum established over H2 is likely to continue into the current financial year with EABL strengthened considerably by the recent acquisition of Tanzania's second biggest beer company Serengeti Breweries.
