Coca-Cola Likely To Lead Fruit Juice Market After Closing Nidan Deal

Coca-Cola has completed the acquisition of a 100% stake in the Russia's fourth largest fruit juice company, Nidan, in a deal that BMI believes will mean it climbs above PepsiCo to become Russia's leading fruit juice company in terms of market share (see chart). An analyst from Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital told The Moscow Times that Coca-Cola is likely to have paid about US$450mn (8-10 times Nidan's expected 2010 EBITDA earnings) for Nidan's equity and debt. Coca-Cola was the most realistic buyer for Nidan from a regulatory point of view given the pre-existing strength of PepsiCo's fruit juice business
