Immature Retail Sector Offers Opportunities For Smaller Players

Emerging market focused private equity firm Actis has announced it is to invest US$58mn in Brazilian retailer Companhia Sulamericana de Distribuição , which owns the supermarket chains São Francisco and Cidade Canção. The firm is a small player in the retail sector, controlling less than 1% of the market.
