Asahi To Scale Up Overseas Footprint With Australian P&N Acquisition

In another apparent sign of its commitment to consolidate its overseas presence, Japanese brewer Asahi is looking to acquire Australian beverage maker P&N Beverage to secure future growth against the stagnation of the Japanese alcoholic drinks sector. BMI remains largely positive on the outlook for Australia's drinks sector but cautions that a secondary slowdown in the domestic economy remains possible, while the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCA)'s anti-competitive measures could hamper Asahi's future growth prospects.
