Return To Growth For C&C In UK Supports Acquisition Strategy And Could Foster Further Takeovers

The latest results posted by Irish drinks producer C&C Group point to a possible turnaround for its beleaguered Magners brand. For the six months to August 31, volumes of Magners in the UK increased by 0.7%, representing the first lift in volumes since 2007. The period also saw the firm post a sharp lift in profits on the back of the EUR300mn sale of its spirits and liqueurs unit, but it is the prospects of a return to growth for the company's core cider unit that will be the key determinant of the company's future earnings and share
