Carrefour And Casino Adopt Contrasting Strategies To Deal With Hypermarket Decline

The latest results posted by French retailers Carrefour and Casino highlight how difficult it will be for these two operators to turn around their domestic hypermarket units. Both firm posted rising third-quarter sales, thanks largely to growth in emerging markets, but both continued to record a contraction in their French hypermarket units, which still account for a significant proportion of revenues.
