International Markets Driving Mercator Growth

Slovenia's leading food retailer, Mercator, expects to grow its top line by 5.3% to EUR2.75bn in the year to December 2010. With Slovenian sales expected to decline for the third consecutive year, growth will be driven internationally, where Mercator was strengthened earlier in 2010 by the acquisition of the Croatian retailer Getro. It has focused its growth strategy firmly on the Balkan region, where organised retail channels remain underdeveloped.
