Carlsberg Sells German Brewery, BMI Sees Further German Divestitures As Likely
January 2011 | Company News AlertDenmark-based brewing giant Carlsberg has announced the sale of its Feldschlosschen brewery in Germany to local operator Frankfurter Brauhaus for an undisclosed fee. The move comes 18 months after Carlsberg sold a brewery in Braunschweig to locally-based Oettinger Brauerei and means the firm has cut the number of breweries it operates in the country from four to two. Like many markets in Western Europe beer sales in Germany have been steadily declining and in this region multinational brewers are largely focused on cutting costs and consolidating their operations to shore up earnings and fund expansion in higher growth
