Ahold Can Make Progress In Belgium With Low-Price Model
January 2011 | Company News AlertDutch retailer Ahold has revealed it is planning to open its first outlet in the Belgian market in March 2011. The move has long been expected, with Ahold seeing the neighbouring Belgian market as a way of capitalising on its existing domestic dominance. The firm has said its first outlet will open in Brasschaat, in the north of the country, and be serviced by an existing Dutch distribution centre. The store will be a franchise outlet running under the Albert Heijn banner and by going down the franchise route the firm should be able expand its presence fairly rapidly. BMI's
