Danone's EM Exposure Boosts Sales And Helps Protect Margins

French food group Danone has reported strong results for its fiscal fourth quarter, indicating that unlike many of its rivals it has coped admirably with the impact of rising commodity prices and a weak economic backdrop. During the quarter, Danone's total like-for-like sales climbed by 6.9% year-on-year, with fresh dairy sales up by 6.2%, waters up by 5.2%, baby nutrition up by 9.8% and medical nutrition climbing by 7.7%.
