Following months of rumours that German discount operator Lidl was planning on entering the Estonian retail market by 2008, the company has announced that it has had a change of plans. For months the local press reported how the company had been buying plots and land, owning approximately 28 pieces of property in Estonia. However, in July, reports began to appear in the Baltic press saying that the company was giving up on its expansion plans and is looking to offload land plots it had already acquired.
