Leading Saudi food company Savola Group has been steadily increasing its sugar production throughout the year to meet increasing demands. Earlier this year, United Sugar Company (USC), a Savola subsidiary, announced plans to extend production capacity at its Jeddah sugar refinery by 50% in the near future, in order to capitalise on growing demand for sugar in Saudi Arabia, and throughout the Middle East region. USC confirmed that the annual capacity of its Jeddah plant would be increased to 1.2mn tonnes, from the current 1mn tonnes, within a few months.
