This week marked the opening of the first modern entertainment and shopping centre, Central Mall, outside of the capital and largest city Sofia. The new mall, in the city of Veliko Tarnovo, with a population of around 300,000, adds another 33,000 square metres or so of new modern retail space. Local supermarket operator Piccadilly will be one of the anchor tenants in the mall, along with such ubiquitous clothing retailers as Esprit and Benetton.
