The EU has announced a EUR5mn (US$6.5mn) grant for Lebanon's first agro-food vocational school, which will be opened in Bekaa next year. Lebanese Education Minister Khaled Qabbani signed the financing agreement with Patrick Laurent, head of the European Commission's Lebanon delegation, and Nabil Jisr, president of the Council for Development and Reconstruction. Lebanon's Education Ministry will also contribute US$1.3mn for the school, which will be located in Qab Elias and will offer three-year baccalaureate degrees with agro-food specializations and short-term training courses for workers in the industry.
