Egypt's dairy sector is still largely traditional, with most consumers receiving their milk the old-fashioned way, unpasteurised, often delivered straight to the home in glass bottles. It is estimated that around 80% of Egyptians consume milk that has not been packaged or pasteurised. Although this may sound like bad news for milk producers, this is not the case, for this number was as high as 90% just a couple of years ago, indicating ample room for growth for producers. In fact, Ahmed Al-Sakr, managing director of Al-Sakr Foods estimates that every year 6-7% of people are converted over to packaged
