Leading Turkish mass grocery retail (MGR) operator Migros Türk has announced that its stores numbers have jumped to 905, and that based on the company's total sales for 2006 - which stood at TRY4.7bn (US$3.8bn) - it expects to be included in the list of the world's biggest 250 MGR retailers. Part of this growth can be attributed to Migros' takeover of the Tansas supermarket chain in January 2006, in which Migros acquired a 70.77% stake, for US$387.1mn. BMI believes that Migros' strategy of combining both acquisitions and expansions will be key to its long-term success.
