Leading Portuguese supermarket operator Jerónimo Martins (JM) has made a strong start to 2007, with sales increasing across all operating divisions in the first quarter. JM, which is second to Modelo Continente in terms of total retail sales, saw group revenues for Q107 increase by an enormous 17.8% year-on-year (y-o-y) to EUR1.14bn (US$1.53bn), while even more encouragingly, net profit and EBIDTA for the period rose 5.5% to EUR18.27mn (US$24.54mn) and 3.2% to EUR63.7mn (US$85.57mn) respectively.
