With the recent opening of its first Kuwaiti outlet, regional and global retail giant Carrefour continues its Middle Eastern expansion strategy. Carrefour operates regionally through its joint venture with MAF Investments, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Majid Al-Futtaim Group, in which Carrefour holds the minority 25% interest. The company opened its first regional hypermarket in the UAE in 1995, and is often credited with modernising the Middle East's food retail landscape. In fact, Carrefour has often been a trailblazer, moving into markets that have little in the way of modern mass grocery retail (MGR). This strategy has given Carrefour the advantage
