The US senate has passed the US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement bill that will eliminate or reduce tariffs on 80% of industrial exports and two-thirds of farm exports to Peru, including levies on dairy, soybeans, corn and vegetables. The move was widely welcomed in the US, however the move is less likely to be well received in Peru, as Peruvian exporters have already enjoyed open access for most of their exports to the US for several years and this bill just cements that existing arrangement.
