On the back of a MYR1.4bn (US$428.4mn) investment in the establishment of a halal food production zone in Borneo's Sarawak state, the Malaysian government has unveiled a raft of tax amendments aimed at furthering the competitiveness of the local halal food industry. The investment and legislative changes confirm Malaysia's ambition to become a global halal production and export hub in the future and not to let its early successes in the vast and high-growth global halal market prove to be a flash in the
