Mexican conglomerate Alfa has posted a fourth quarter loss of MXN9.62bn (US$696mn) due to a US$770m loss from exchange and derivatives trading. However, the firm's chilled food unit Sigma, which is one of four divisions along with petrochemicals, automobile components and telecommunications that had a successful quarter with sales up by 10% and income up by 18% compared to the same period a year ago.
