Danone Reconsidering Merits Of JV Strategy?

Reports have emerged in the Argentine press that French food and drink giant Danone is considering buying Argentine dairy company La Serenissima, owned by Mastellone Hnos. Danone and La Serenisima established a joint venture in 1996, with the firms co-operating on the production, marketing and distribution of yoghurts and desserts. The news is interesting as it comes shortly after Danone announced that it was going it alone in India, after the relationship with its local partner broke down. The latest reports could therefore signal a change in strategy, with Danone preferring to remain fully in control of its emerging market
