Arca's Sales Drop Off In Mexico, But Boosted By Argentine Acquisitions

Mexico-based Coca-Cola bottler Embotelladoras Arca has reported that net profits fell by 6.5% in the second quarter of 2009 due to higher expenses and taxes. Net profits fell to MXN766.3mn from MXN819.2mn a year earlier, while operating income was virtually unchanged at MXN1,184mn. Sales increased by 12.2% to MXN6.12bn on the back of two acquisitions in Argentina. However, sales volumes in the firm's core Mexican market were down by 3%, with the firm citing the tough economic environment.
