The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) has reported that volumes sales of spirits increased slightly during 2009, while sales in value terms were flat. During the year, DISCUS says that volumes increased by 1.4% to 187mn nine-litre cases but a move towards cheaper varieties and price cutting meant that value sales came in at the same level as the previous
